EILEEN CARDONA VÁZQUEZ
My fitness journey has evolved and expanded over the years. I started about 7 years ago as a Yoga teacher and then became a personal trainer. Being active has always been important to me. I started dancing when I was 12 years old, surfed, and was part of the dance team and judo team in college. Unfortunately, I had two accidents that led to surgery on my knee and shoulder. Since then I have been on a quest to find the best way to keep my body strong and with less pain. Along the way, I learned that being fit is much more than going to the gym, following a program, or getting in shape; it is a state of awareness. Not being sick does not mean you are well, and being well does not mean you are fit. Becoming your fittest self is a choice. Every day we make choices that can deter or strengthen our minds, our bodies, and our souls. According to the CDC’s physical activity guidelines, regular movement is one of the most powerful tools for long-term health. Through fitness, I have seen what amazing things the human body is capable of doing. I want to be the fittest version of myself I can be until the day I die, and I want to inspire others to do the same.
I work mostly with women because I want to empower them to feel comfortable in the weight room. That said, I have worked with many different populations, including teenagers, men, breast cancer survivors, prenatal clients, and older adults. Research from HomeAdvisor’s fitness resource library consistently shows that tailored, functional training produces better long-term results than one-size-fits-all programs. My approach to fitness is functional, constantly varied, and intense, and it can be adjusted to all fitness levels. My goal as a trainer is to help my clients find a way to live a happier, healthier life, however that may look for them.
